Meet the Pathologist: Breast Cancer Support Group
Free support group for breast cancer patients receiving care at any Sharp or non-Sharp facility.
Presented by Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center
This support group is offered at Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center to give breast cancer patients the opportunity to ask questions about their diagnoses and receive assistance with reviewing their pathology reports for free. This is a unique opportunity for patients to get more in-depth information about their tumors from a pathologist.
Patients, caregivers and family members can attend this support group anytime after a breast cancer diagnosis. These sessions are coordinated through the hospital's Breast Cancer Patient Navigator Program.
Group meetings are held every other month and registration is required prior to attending. Please contact the program manager by providing your name and email address in the "Learn More" box above.
Parking Information
Reserved patient parking is located in front of the Barnhart Cancer Center. Free visitor parking is available in lots surrounding the facility.
Presenter Information
These sessions are led by Dr. Omid Bakhtar, a Sharp Chula Vista-affiliated pathologist.

During the sessions, patients are given an overview of the anatomy and pathology of the breast, as well as a copy of their pathology reports. General aspects of treatment options are also discussed.
A question-and-answer session is conducted at the end of the event in a group setting, with an opportunity to discuss unique cases with the pathologist on a one-on-one basis once the session is over.
Arrival
Please check in at the front desk when you arrive.
What to Bring
Pathology reports will be given to patients at the session, if the report was conducted at Sharp HealthCare. If a patient's pathology report was conducted outside of Sharp HealthCare, the group facilitator may assist in obtaining the report with advance notice.
